Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers Jeannette

What are porcelain veneers?
Porcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain or ceramic material that are placed on the front surfaces of your teeth. Veneers are able to mask a number of tooth problems including breaks, cracks, chips, crookedness and discoloration. Porcelain veneers are considered to be a conservative cosmetic dentistry choice because very little of your natural enamel needs to be removed in order to place the new material. Veneers are custom designed for every patient and dyed to match your natural tooth shade.

How do porcelain veneers solve cosmetic dentistry issues?
Porcelain Veneers are intended to cover tooth defects with a lifelike material that mimics the qualities of natural enamel. Because the veneers are placed over visible surfaces of the teeth, the underlying conditions become invisible. Veneers can change the appearance of tooth color, size, and shape in just a few visits.

What happens during a porcelain veneer procedure?
In just three appointments, you’ll be smiling big with your new veneers. During your first visit, the natural enamel is reduced slightly to make room for the veneers. Then, Dr. Maria Cavalier will take a mold of the tooth or teeth, which is then sent to our lab for custom design. After a few weeks, you’ll come back in to have your new veneers fitted and bonded. Any slight color changes are made before the bonding process, and then the veneer is permanently attached with a safe dental cement and hardening light. We’ll see you again in a few weeks to make sure you are happy with the fit and appearance of your veneers.

Why are porcelain veneers such a popular treatment option?
They allow the patient to enjoy dramatic smile improvements without a large time commitment. The procedure does not require invasive measures, so there’s no drilling or drastic tooth reduction. Multiple tooth problems can be addressed and solved through the placement of veneers. Just a few appointments are all that is needed to transform one’s smile using this method. Veneers are very natural looking and strong. They’re also highly stain-resistant and can last many years with proper care. Comparatively, porcelain veneers are an affordable smile makeover option, too.
