Tooth Bonding

Tooth bonding, also referred to as dental bonding, is one of the most quick and easy cosmetic dentistry procedures, and one of the most versatile. It can correct many minor dental defects, such as:

  • Small gaps
  • Shallow cracks
  • Small gaps between teeth
  • Slight crookedness
  • Little chips

The term dental bonding has two meanings. It refers both to the procedure of correcting those defects, and to the substance used. The substance is white, malleable, and putty-like. It comes in a variety of shades, so Dr. Cavalier will choose one that closely matches your natural tooth color.

The Bonding Procedure
Dr. Cavalier will apply dental bonding in small increments until the chip or other defect is corrected. When the surfaces are all smooth and comfortable in your bite, she will apply a curing light to harden the bonding and make it strong and durable. This takes only a few seconds. The whole procedure is short and does not usually require any anesthetic.

Tooth bonding can also be used for fillings, and is then known as white dental composite, or dental resin. You can read more about white fillings on our Metal-Free Fillings page and more about bonding on the Dental Bonding Questions page.

Dr. Cavalier has a lot of experience and know-how in using teeth bonding to enhance your smile. If you have questions about it and would like to schedule a personal consultation, please call or email our Greensburg, PA offices. We look forward to meeting with you.
